Blackberry Blossoms at the Beaver Pond

The great Beaver Marsh near Riverview Road is a lively place during the warmer months. Ducks, geese, herons and many other species of birds depend upon the area for food and protection. In June, a bit of color is added to the lush green surroundings when the wild blackberries bloom. Then in July, a second wave of color arrives as thousand of water lilies open and cover the surface of the pond with exquisite white blossoms. In August, the birds’ much awaited event arrives, the dense and prickly berry vines are now covered with a grand feast of tart, fresh blackberries.
