Massive rock ledges and waterfalls are among the remnants of the glacial age in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. However, natural lakes, the most common of all glacial remains do not exist. An excellent location for family picnics is Horseshoe Pond on the west side of the valley. Beautiful in every season and stunning after a winter snowstorm, this small lake, originally a farmer’s soil conservation project, is nestled in a mature grove of tall spruce trees.
